Sunjay Sharma completed his undergraduate degree in medicine at the University of Western Ontario in 2007. He subsequently completed his residency in neurosurgery at the University of Toronto in 2014. During his neurosurgical training Sunjay went on to complete a Masters in Clinical Epidemiology.
He then went on to complete his fellowship in adult critical care medicine in July 2016. He is currently practicing neurosurgery, intensive care and neurocritical care at Hamilton General Hospital. Sunjay has published extensively in neurosurgery, critical care and trauma. He has been the lead author of two provincial guidelines addressing the management and transfer criteria for patients with neurosurgical emergencies. Most recently he is also a contributing methodologist for the Surviving Sepsis Guidelines.
