Jennifer Chandler

Jennifer A. Chandler, BSc, LLB, LLM, Full Professor, Faculty of Law, Centre for Health Law, Policy and Ethics, University of Ottawa. Professor Chandler studies the legal and ethical aspects of biomedical science and technology, with focuses on organ donation and transplantation, mental health law and policy, and neuroethics. She holds the Bertram Loeb Research Chair in Organ and Tissue Donation at the University of Ottawa, leading research teams addressing family decision-making at end of life, and the law and ethics of ante-mortem interventions intended to support organ donation. She is the incoming chair of the ethics committee of the Canadian Society of Transplantation, and serves on the ethics committee of the Trillium Gift of Life Network. She was also a member of the government-appointed Council of Canadian Academies’ expert panel that recently completed its review of Canada’s medical assistance in dying legislation.
