Dr. Salvatore Maggiore is Consultant Intensivist at the A. Gemelli Hospital and Assistant Professor at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome, Italy. In 2003, he obtained the PhD in Respiratory Physiology at the University Paris XII, France.
His professional career has been involved in several research programs focusing on acute respiratory failure and airway management, respiratory mechanics, invasive and non-invasive ventilator support, the cardiovascular effects of mechanical ventilation, and ethics in intensive care. He has published over 150 peer-reviewed papers, reviews, editorials and book chapters and has extensively lectured in national and international meetings on these subjects. He has been honoured with several national and international awards (SIAARTI in 1998 and 2000, ERS in 2000, and ATS in 2002).
Dr. Maggiore was a former Deputy Editor of “Intensive Care Medicine” (2007-2013), Chair of the Editorial & Publishing Committee and Executive Committee member of the ESICM (2011-2014).
