Richard Riker MD, FCCM has training and board certification in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Pulmonary-Critical Care Medicine, and NeuroCritical Care. He is a Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine at Maine Medical Center, the Chair of the IRB, Director of Medical Critical Care, and attends on the Neurocritical Care service. He has written more than 95 original articles and delivered presentations regarding sedation, agitation, delirium, and therapeutic hypothermia in critically ill patients. He was a section leader on the 2002 and 2013 SCCM sedation guidelines, and is part of the SCCM task force revising the guidelines. Dr Riker is a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine, has received numerous teaching awards, and research presentation awards from the SCCM (1990, 2007, 2009). He lives on the coast of Maine with his wife Alison, with 5 grown children and a rescue Jack Russell-Beagle mix, Rudy.
