Dr. Lazar graduated in 1977 from the University of Manitoba receiving both a Bachelor of Science in Medicine and a Doctor of Medicine. He completed specialty training in Internal Medicine at the University of Toronto in 1982, Respiratory Medicine at the University of British Columbia in 1983, and Critical Care Medicine at UCSF in 1984. He joined the active staff of the Toronto General Hospital in 1985. He is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto and post-graduate coordinator for ethics in both Respirology and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Toronto. He is the site director of the MSICU at TGH. He has been involved with end of life care in Critical Care and Respirology for many years at UHN.
