Dr. Girard completed his medical school and core Internal Medicine at McGill University. He subsequently trained in Anesthesiology and in adult Critical Care Medicine at University of Montreal. He completed a 6-month advanced TEE fellowship with Pr. A. Vieillard-Baron at Ambroise-Paré Hospital (Paris, France) and a 12-month research and lung ultrasonography fellowship with Prs. J.-J. Rouby and B. Bouhémad at Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital (Paris, France).
Dr. Girard is currently Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at University of Montreal and is practicing as an anesthesiologist and intensivist at the Centre Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. His research deals with the use of lung ultrasonography for intraoperative respiratory monitoring, for lung physiology study and as a diagnostic tool for pneumonia.
