Doctor Marisa Tucci earned a Bachelor of Science degree at McGill University in 1982 and went on to earn her Medical Doctorate at the University of Montreal in 1987. She is currently Full Clinical Professor in the Departement of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Critical Care at Sainte-Justine Hospital, University of Montreal. She has recently published the results of a large multicenter randomized clinical trial, the Age of Blood in Children in Pediatric Intensive Care Units (ABC-PICU) study which assessed the impact of red blood cell storage time on outcome in critically ill children and showed that fresher red blood cells do not reduce the incidence of multiple organ dysfunction. She has been and continues to be involved in various endeavours pertaining to the transfusion of blood products in children.
