Dr. Lorenzo De Marchi received his Medical degree from University of Milan in 1995, and graduated in Anesthesia & Intensive Care in 1999. Starting in 2001, Dr. De Marchi spent two years ears as research fellow at the National Heart & Lung Institute-NIH , studying mechanisms of development and prevention of Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP) . He then completed his Internship in Internal Medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY and his residency in Anesthesia at Georgetown University Hospital, graduating in the class of 2007. After Residency Dr. De Marchi joined the Faculty at Georgetown and in 2016 has been promoted to the rank of Professor of Clinical Anesthesia. At Georgetown, he works as an adult and pediatric Transplant Anesthesiologist and is the Director of Thoracic Anesthesia. Certified in Advanced Perioperative TEE , his main area of interest is the use of ultrasounds in the anesthesia clinical practice.
