Haifa Mtaweh trained in pediatric critical at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, then joined SickKids as a clinical research fellow while starting a degree in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Toronto. During fellowship, Haifa studied energy expenditure profiles of children with severe traumatic brain injury and now is expanding the work to all critically ill children. Current research interests include metabolism, energy expenditure, and nutritional therapy of critically ill children.
She has won the RESTRACOMP award at SickKids research institute and the CIHR-Canadian Graduate Scholarship to support her research work in understanding the metabolic demands and estimating energy expenditure of critically ill children.
