Céline Gélinas

C_GelinasCéline Gélinas, N, PhD is Assistant Professor at Ingram School of Nursing of McGill University, and Clinical Researcher at the Centre for Nursing Research and Lady Davis Institute of the Jewish General Hospital in Montréal (Qc), Canada. Her research program focuses on pain assessment and management in critically ill adults. Her main contribution was the creation of the Critical-Care Pain Observation Tool (CPOT) for nonverbal critically ill adults which she is now revising for brain-injured ICU patients who present atypical pain behaviors. Her program also includes the study of vital signs and cerebral measures for the assessment of pain, development and testing of the effectiveness of non-pharmacological interventions for pain management in the ICU. She has also participated as a member in the revision of the recent 2013 clinical guidelines of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the pain guideline of the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario.
