Anna-Liisa Sutt is a Speech Pathologist whose work involves communication and dysphagia management of adult intensive care patients. Anna-Liisa’s career started in Tallinn, Estonia. For the past 8 years she has worked in Queensland, Australia. Her passion is advancing speech pathology input and evidence base in the critical care environment. Anna-Liisa has recently finished her PhD, which assesses the effect of tracheostomy speaking valves on regional ventilation and communication success. Her research has resulted in a rapid change of practice locally, with 75% of ventilated ICU patients with tracheostomy now talking. Her work has been instrumental in changing practice in a number of ICUs.
