Dr. Brown, an associate professor of pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Utah based at Intermountain Medical Center, is associate director of Intermountain’s Critical Care Echocardiography Service. A clinical trialist and translational researcher, his research focuses on septic cardiomyopathy and cardiopulmonary interactions during critical illness, with a commitment to understanding and improving long-term outcomes. He has lectured and published widely on critical care ultrasound. In parallel, he’s a medical humanist and intellectual historian, with several books in those domains. He treats critically ill patients in and increasingly after the ICU.
