Dr. Zarychanski is a Critical Care physician, Hematologist, and Clinician-Scientist at the University of Manitoba. His research focuses on the hematologic aspects of critical illness. His major programs of research are studying unfractionated heparin and IVIG in septic shock. Other research programs are evaluating processes of care in massive transfusion, and tranexamic acid to reduce red cell transfusion in major non-cardiac surgery. Dr. Zarychanski is the Associate Director of Knowledge Synthesis at the Centre for Healthcare Innovation in Winnipeg. He holds the Lyonel G. Israels Professorship in Hematology and receives salary and operating grants from the Canadian Institute of Health Research.
