Pre Conference Workshop
Course Title: “The Grey Matter: Critical Care, Ethics and the Law”
Monday November 10, 2008
The purpose of this course is to provide education and training regarding the ethical and legal dilemmas faced by practitioners in the critical care unit. This course is designed to train critical care service providers, referring teams to ICU, risk managers, hospital administrators, as well as members of the Consent and Capacity Board, Public Guardian and Trustee and healthcare lawyers involved in critical care environments.
This course was initiated in response to requests from the critical care community regarding additional education and training opportunities through research activities completed by the Critical Care Strategy's Ethical Issues of Access, led by Dr. Laura Hawryluck and Nathalie Danjoux with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. This one-day course will consist of a series of presentations, discussions and debates to provide further insight into the ethical and legal issues present in the critical care environment.
This program has been accredited by the Law Society of Upper Canada towards the professional development requirement for certification.
